Thornfield Hall

...the place that calls itself the Old House, even though the real one burned down!

Thompson, Connecticut
October 1969

Yes, I'm fully aware that Thornfield Hall isn't the real "Old House". In fact, I've been to both. LOL. Well, the remains of the real one. And we forgot to take pictures that time. Oh well. We went during the 2002 Dark Shadows Tarrytown event, and that was also when an auction was going on in the Pool House on the Lyndhurst estate...anyway, wrong house, wrong state, etc.
Thornfield Hall is mentioned in the 30th Anniversary Tribute Dark Shadows Almanac on page 156. It was never on the series, though its resemblance to the Spratt Mansion is close.
On February 5, 1996 (David Selby's birthday!), back when I was first getting into Dark Shadows, I was looking through a box of my mom's belongings stuffed in the basement of my grandparent's house, and found this flyer. (I also found about 5 16 magazines from 1969/1970, all about the DS cast and show!) I also found these pictures from when Mom went to Thornfield Hall with my grandparents, in the fall of 1969, when Dark Shadows was at the height of its popularity. At the time, I didn't know it wasn't really the Old House, so Mom drove me by it. And for my birthday, she got me the Almanac, so for a time I thought I saw the actual thing.
