Present Updates & Beyond!

18 May 2010: I added a background image.  My site is intended to be aligned to the left, which is apparently giving the finger to Web 2.0.  My site is left aligned because I'm an artist and this is an artsy site.  However...with everything piled up to the left, my site looked barebones and unfinished, which--don't get me wrong--it IS, but I'm starting to tell people about it and wanted it to look better. So you get boxes!  I was going to use the muted grey boxes on Left Behind but decided that they looked good for the main site too.  Blah blah art blah.  Unfortunately the business side of me is starting to hint at a full site redesign, but the artist side of me likes this look since I cooked it up in 2006 and actually it's only been online for what...9 months?

Speaking of barebones and unfinished, I've commented out all those menu links that brought you to the Quoth the Raven 404 page. The site will get there.  In the meantime, what you see is what you get.  Still working on Mannequin Reject #2.  By the way, MR1 will have it's second print run to coincide with the first printing of MR2.  Around the same time, I'm going to make a dedicated page for the zines which include extra content that didn't find its way to the original zines, for space reasons or whatever reasons.  (Yeah, those zines have soundtrack listing suggestions for you to burn your own mixes to match my zines!  woohoo!  Like you care!)

Anyway, things aren't too shabby around here.  I need to get a blog going on this site and import over the MR blog from blogspot.

Also, one more note: Ning started charging $$ for groups I guess, so some of the sea glass groups I belong to are starting to impose restrictions on the photos you can upload.  This means 2 things: 1. I'm moving all my sea glass photos here and 2.  it's just an incentive for me to do it since I was going to do it anyway.  I don't pay $100+/yr for this site for nothing!

13 Apr 2010: So I was just reading old website updates from 2001 and am wondering what I was on and if I could get some of that now. LOL

09 Apr 10: Oh, the CT/RI Great Flood of 2010 was really something else!  Look for a new section to appear in "Left Behind..." for Demolitions, Disasters, Fires, and Floods.  I put up over 90 pics temporarily on facebook but I do have many, many more.  Here's a taste!

If you were wondering, the flood actually spared our own basement, which is good, because we live down there.  Our backyard was 3 feet deep but the house sits above the back yard.  Meanwhile, the house that my husband and I are looking at had a foot of water sitting in its basement over a week with a fridge floating around in it...but that could be in our favor, since we have a favorable offer/counter offer situation going on.  Stay tuned!

12 Mar 2010: Tweaking formatting issues with the navigation and updated the bio.  I've been installed as the vice president of the Sterling Historical Society!  I'm really excited about this and am hard at work in the research stages of a history book.  This site might get a tad neglected in the meantime, but not too much considering the fact that I'm paying for it.  Meanwhile, here's a random artsy picture from my blackberry that I happen to like.

05 Jan 2010: So another year is here.  I took down the Christmasy bit. lol

15 Dec 2009: I was in the middle of updating when I got called into work, so I added a Christmasy bit to the homepage before being stolen for the day by my boss.

11 Dec 2009: New photo gallery in the UE section, Plainfield High School Demo (2005).  Um...upon uploading stuff this morning I realized that for some reason a lot of my resized pics from 2005 and later were never backed up because my CD backups for all that stuff are like frozen in time from 2006.  So, backup fail, means I have to do it all again, so some of my galleries will be either incomplete or whatever until I get that done.  I'm not going to sit here and wait for gigantor 2500x3500 pixel photos to upload, or whatever size they are.  640x480 sounds pretty good and if you want anything bigger you can always yell at me or something.  PS, I took a little trip to Norwich State Hospital on 24 Nov. so if you're lucky I might upload those pics before 2020, at the rate I'm going. LOL.  PS: the PHS demo gallery is actually incomplete.  And there's a new bio for me in the UE section that I wrote this morning.  Haven't figured out anything decent to put here yet though. lol

Oh and there's more (and it's only lunchtime! lol): I added the Rocky Point and Masonic Temple Demolition galleries in their entirety.  And a footer, because copyright is important.

22 Nov 2009: New photo gallery, Preston City School Demolition.  I think the smallest galleries (and subsequently, oldest (2003, 2MP camera, lmao)) will make it up first.  Also added video of the InterRoyal Mill Fire that I've had on youtube for a while, but now the whole series is together.

20 Nov 2009: After 2 years, my photo galleries (formerly hosted on insanebunkers from 2005-2007) are coming back.  Seems I can't FTP them all with maxigallery because I haven't figured out where they go, so whatever, guess I'll be uploading them the old fashioned way just like I did for days in 2006.  Anyway, the UE section is just as bare bones as the rest of the site, but check it out! Left Behind - Shadows in the Ruins .  Only photo galleries up are the Baltic Mill Fire from August 11, 1999 and the InterRoyal Mill Fire series from 2005, which is an ungodly mess, but workable until I decide whether I should bring them all back as albums separated by date...and really...I'm that OCD.  You should see how the photos are arranged on my harddrive.

PS: my geocities site is no more.  Do you have any idea how wrong that feels? LMAO.

09 Nov 2009: Guess it's time to get this hot mess on the road.  I think first up will be my UE photos that I've been promising ever since insanebunkers took a long dive off a short cliff.  My laptop is about to crap out (say what?!) so I added a donation button to my homepage, LOL.  Not that I really expect anyone to donate one single cent that they earned with their blood, sweat, & tears, but maybe humanity will surprise me. It's not like I don't work or sit around collecting unemployment.  In fact, most of the time I'm not even home. haha.

04 Oct 2009: Browser compatibility issues resolved for IE8 but IE7 can rot in hell for all I care.  Even Whatever:Hover isn't working for IE7!  That's such crap!  And I haven't even looked at the site in Opera or Safari.  I have mini Opera on my BlackBerry.  Mmmmm....BlackBerry.

26 Sep 2009: Plugging away at getting some content on this site already!  Rearranged the top menus so it almost makes more sense, but still doesn't.  Added a 404 error page, but it's really just a placeholder for things to come and purposefully redirected all the blank pages there. Next to come will likely be sea glass photo galleries and the urban exploration galleries...all depends on how well organized I want this whole thing to be.

2 Jul 2009: Rearranging some stuff on the backend to make it easier for me to update the site from the get go.  I'm actually very OCD about how my stuff is arranged in folders on my pc and my site is no different.  So that's taking a bit.  Other than that I've been rocking out to Michael Jackson for like a week now.

30 Jun 2009: I'm too busy listening to Michael Jackson to update the site.

16 Jun 2009:LOL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL! So I installed MODx and now I have a lot of work to do.  Ahahaha.  Give me a break, I haven't even looked at MODx since 11 Jan 2008.  Not even so much as one smidgen of a blink.  So the fact I got this far surprises even me.  I hope I didn't screw up Google Analytics.

10 Jun 2009: Fixing the formating of the DS pages because it irks me. Also added invisible fun stuff like google analytics. In other news, I'm participating in the 2nd annual Etsy Yart Sale. Also creating a zazzle store, but that's going to need a bit more effort.

09 Jun 2009: While typing the title for this page I accidentally typed "Updates 2009 and Beyonce". LOL. Anyway, since you're on this site and not http://www.geocities.com/lydia_jennings I can only assume you've obviously noticed the site got a huge upgrade. Would I have ever taken that step if geocities wasn't disappearing from the face of the planet by the end of the year? Not likely.

Just for s&g, I put up my entire DS section. It's got some formatting issues but that's because I didn't really feel like editing the hell out of those pages just yet. The difference between the old site and this site is huge. 1. I am no longer on dialup. I was trying to explain to my darling husband just how I ran a site with 312 subpages in high school on dialup...and I can't even remember what that was like. 2. I know CSS. Shocker. 3. I use FTP, no more of this garbage uploading 5/10/20 files at a time. I can't believe I waisted months doing it that way. I'm also trying to install MODx CMS because my old site was image intensive and it would just be easier to have a sleek looking site without hardcoding images in. That's so 2001.

But now there's this thing called cross-browser compatibility, which I SUCK at. I mean, I'm beyond sucking at it. So go download FIREFOX, I'll even make it easy for you.
